“Is Ksi Lisims LNG considering First Nations input?”

Ksi Lisims LNG is enabled by the Nisga’a Final Agreement and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The project’s governance structure provides each proponent with meaningful input into project development, management and operations, ensuring it is designed and operated in a manner consistent with the Nisga’a Nation’s commitment to the stewardship of the land and its people.

“When is Ksi Lisims LNG expected to be operational?”

Commercial operations are expected to begin in late 2028 or 2029.

“Will there be opportunities for First Nations to work on the project?”

“When is construction expected to begin?”

Ksi Lisims LNG is awaiting its Final Investment Decision which is the company decision to proceed to construction. Should Ksi Lisims LNG proceed, construction is expected to begin in 2025.

“How many jobs will Ksi Lisims LNG create?”

Ksi Lisims is expected to create approximately 21,000 jobs across the projects lifetime.

“Where will Ksi Lisims LNG get the electricity to power its facility?”

A new electrical transmission line, owned and operated by the Nisga’a Nation, will be built to connect the Ksi Lisims LNG project to the BC Hydro grid. In addition to job and business opportunities, the new line has the potential to improve electricity service in Nisga’a villages.

“What are the advantages of exporting LNG from Canada?”

Exporting LNG from Canada has many advantages, including a short shipping distance to Asia, big natural gas reserves, and a strong reputation as a stable and responsible trade partner.

“What is LNG?”

LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas. It’s simply gas (the same kind used at home in heating and cooking) that has been cooled to a very low temperature, turning it from a gas into a liquid. As a liquid, it’s easier to ship and store.
